In so many ways, Berlin was the perfect destination for us for our honeymoon.
It was this great mix of learning something new, taking in the history and culture, and just walking around together. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend the first few days with my new husband than the way everything played out in Berlin.
And one of those favorite moments was when we visited the East Side Gallery. I had spent years regretting the fact that when I visited in 2012, I didn’t see this Berlin landmark, even though it was within walking distance from where we were staying. This time, though, it was a priority. After all, this 1.3 km section is the longest remaining bit of the Berlin Wall and the world’s largest open air art gallery.
We couldn’t have timed it better: we got there just before sunset and got to walk along while taking in all the artwork and stopping to pose with some of them. Then we diverted our path by just a few, to walk by the Spree River while the sun was setting. This provided us, and especially my husband who loves photography, with a chance to take great photos.
This is my favorite:
This breathtaking sunset is one of the many reasons that I miss Berlin as much as I do right now.
Note: The pictures in this post were taken by my husband, Ahmad. I hope he uses this post as inspiration to further pursue his photography hobby.
I think that the first photograph is spectacular.
Thank you, that’s so kind of you to say.
