On The Wall

A home is a work in progress.

While I heard that countless times during the engagement period, the words never really rang true until we moved in and we started interacting with the space all the time.

Even though we had tried really hard to make it seem complete and decorated, there are still spaces were things should go or walls where artwork should hang or empty photo frames where pictures from our most memorable times should be displayed.

Slowly though, things are taking shape.

One of those ways is the arrival of our wedding guest book- three vinyls that our guests signed and we subsequently got framed.

We set them next to each other- their thin black frames and white backgrounds contrasting with the blue and gold feature wall we have in our dining room. It looks like something that you would see at Hard Rock Cafe, except this isn’t rock memorabilia, it is a piece of  our wedding that is one of the very first things people see when they come in to our home.

Side note: I tried to write about what’s going on in the world today, the world we live- and my thoughts, but I just could not bring myself to typing anything down. So instead I chose to write about something that made me happy today. Just as a change of pace.

Every sentence I wrote started off well but then I just ended up erasing them, nothing seemed to do the situation justice. What I can say though, is that when I sat down to watch the evening news with my family, I could only shake and shudder at the horrific images that have come in from Paris, just as I was struck when I heard the news about Burj Al Barajneh.

These are difficult times we live in, in a world that just got a bit more scary after these attacks that claimed innocent lives. But we must not let fear override our humanity. That’s all I can think of.
