There are several forms to express love, as anyone would tell you. And it seems that throughout our trip to Berlin, that manifested itself in so many different ways, including the little stretch of the Berlin Wall at the East Side Gallery where people hang up their locks.
Another type we found was in one of the stands at the Oktoberfest village right in the middle of Alexanderplatz. It was something we walked past several times a day on our way to and from the hotel and was built to celebrate the festival that normally takes place in South Germany, better known to us as Bavaria. So if you can’t go to Bavaria, they’ll bring it to you: complete with the food and dress and vendors trying to sell you all sorts of things you don’t want.
One of the things that caught my eye was the sweet display- I wasn’t completely surprised. The mainstay is the chocolate hearts with writing on them describing love and emotion. So it’s a cute gesture to give someone you care for one of these.
