It pains me that it’s almost mid-June and I am still studying and have not been to the beach a single time- but that really can’t be helped because of how deadlines and Dutch weather seem to work.
For someone who was born in January, you’d think I’d enjoy the cold. But I don’t. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it! So it really doesn’t help the cause that I had to live through one of the coldest winters Europe has ever experienced.
Still, not all hope is lost, because as is the normal case during times of stress and frustration, I turn to music, and there is no better choice to put me in a better mood than Crystal Fighters’ Plage- which for those of you who don’t know French means beach.
Though it’ll be a year old this coming August, with music discoveries, it’s always better late than never, right?
The British-Spanish group have perfected the happy summer melody, while still managing to capture the “take every opportunity you get” theme perfectly with verses like “come over here with your heart, and I will love your heart with mine.” In my opinion, it’s a flawless song that should be widely circulated, instead of whatever blah-pop that seems to be circulating on the airwaves right now.
My only regret? Crystal Fighters played BRUIS right here in Maastricht last September but I had left just before their set begun. Stupid!
